Jarun is a lake in the southwestern part of Zagreb, surrounded by a sports and leisure center, where people can row, paddle, sail, surf, jog, bike and, among other things, dive.
Though not a specifically very attractive location, it is interesting enough to look below the surface – more than 323 plant taxa from 70 families have been accounted for, and you may stumble upon a Red-eared slider as well.
It is also a viable and, in my personal opinion, better alternative to diving and practicing in the swimming pool during the scuba diving courses in Zagreb.
Two annual ecological events are held in the lake by the scuba diving clubs “Mar Sub” and “Roniti se mora” in which divers and clubs from all around Croatia gather to clean the lake, socialize and educate the interested parties about the sub-aquatic world.
